148 HOUSE OF LOVE, Something Pretty Beautiful, Bath Pavilion, Thursday 7 December 1989

Bumped into various other Swindonians at this gig, in a "school hall" type of venue. Chatted during the support band who were a typical "Creation" guitar band, okay on occasions, but didn't really do it for me.

The House Of Love relied on older numbers, rather than new material from their forthcoming LP, as the basis of their set, which was rocking and very very sweaty; so much so, in fact, that the fire alarms went off again (2 HOL gigs, 2 fire alarms!) and the building was evacuated! Remarked about this to HOL vocalist Guy Chadwick (also getting my set-list signed) after their fine guitar set; bad ventilation and too much dry ice!
