Bristol on a Sunday, and no pubs open! Drove down in a carfull and eventually found a pub, before heading back to the Bierkeller for some pool during the anonymous support set.
As for headliners Galaxie 500, they were unfortunately a big disappointment. Their mood music, on record, walks a tightrope between lush atmosphere and discordance, sometimes good, sometimes bad; however "live" they veered too much towards the bad type of discordance. Maybe my fault, I shouldn't have expected any more from them; they were never going to rock out, let's face it, were they? A towering "Don't Let Our Youth Go To Waste" was easily the set highlight, but apart from that I got the spirit, but lost the feeling...
