89 PRIMAL SCREAM, The Jasmine Minks, The Academy, Uxbridge Brunel University, Saturday 10 October 1987

Drove up to visit a friend at the Uni and catch a gig, heading in in time to catch the passable Jasmine Minks support set. Primal Scream, purveyors of a deliciously meandering and 60's psychedelic/ pop influenced album in this year's "Sonic Flower Groove", however lived up more to their name than their reputation; they were an utter racket, destroying their melodic material with swathes of punk rock, and doing a version of The Clash's "White Riot" which ended in a very drunken vocalist Bobby Gillespie rolling around on the floor. Hmmm...
