132 FIELDS OF THE NEPHILIM, Mary My Hope, Bristol Studio, Tuesday 30 May 1989

Slightly reluctantly, I took Veronica along to this gig from one of her favourite groups, but certainly not one I'd chosen... I spent most of my time taking the piss out of the multitudes of Goths there! The support band was a loud and crap Yank noise, making an unwelcome change from the bands playing loud and good Yank noise I've recently discovered...

"The Neff" drowned us in dry ice for half an hour before they came on, then played a haunting, mysterious set of thrashy, throaty dark Goth rock. Not my thing really, but I had to concede they did it well. Veronica liked it, anyway!
