Down to the South Coast on a Summer Saturday, meeting up with Ady and his housemates before the gig. Back to the drunken student-infected University refectory again; still at least the scrumpy is cheap, so I hit it with a vengeance!
Support band Lush were an excellent, if uncommunicative, band specialising in wall of noise/ Throwing Muses influenced harsh yet touching noise. Very promising...
House Of Love vocalist Guy Chadwick obviously grew up, like myself, listening to Echo And The Bunnymen, as he gave a more than passable impression of chief Bunny Ian McCulloch during an unspectacular but effective set of melodic guitar rock, which was truncated by a fire alarm evacuation of the venue (!) thanks to the level of dry ice, but which also featured a splendid version of their best number "Destroy The Heart". Very worthwhile overall!
